Japanese Type 97 Chi-Ha Tank 1-100
Japanese Type 97 Chi Ha tank with Type 97 low velocity 57mm gun and two Type 97 7.7mm machine guns. Entered Japanese service in 1938 as a replacement for the Ha Go. Intended as an infantry support tank with early success in China and the 1942 campaigns, but was found to be inadequate against Soviet and Allied tanks. Largely replaced by the Chi Ha Kai, sometimes called the Chi Ha Shinhoto (new turret), with slightly improved armor and a high velocity 47mm gun. Captured tanks were used by both sides in the Chinese Civil War following the end of WW2. Chi Ha Kai is in development.
