French Hotchkiss 35 series cavalry tank. Entered service with French Cavalry in 1936 following rejection by the infantry due to its poor steering on uneven surfaces. How poor? It was considered so uncontrollable that nearby infantry were at extreme risk of being squished by their own tank support. With the rising German threat cancellation any modern tank was better than no tank, so the Cavalry got to have the H35, with the alternative being no tanks. Initially armed with SA 18 37mm gun and Reibel 7.5mm machine gun. Following three years of testing, the modification of 1939 was approved which replaced the 78 HP engine with a 120 HP engine along with a revised engine compartment to fit the new, larger engine and improvements to the entire drive system which greatly improved speed and handling. Conversions began in 1940, with most modified Hotchkisses only getting this improvement. As the new SA38 37mm gun became available command tanks were refitted with it, making the H39. However, very few tanks were so modified.
After the Fall of France, captured tanks were used by the Wehrmacht in a variety of roles, mostly anti-partisan but some tanks were modified for other uses. A few had the misfortune to find their way to the East Front. Some of these models are available in other listings.
All models are available in larger scales by request, so if you want a bigger tank for modelling or games like Bolt Action just ask. Each tank comes with one open and one closed hatch turret. This is an all new design with improved detail that is much closer to true 1/100 scale.
3d SLA printed from grey resin under license from V. Mifsud's design in 15mm scale for your favorite WW II wargames. This miniature will ship washed, cured and unprimed in resin grey.
